Ruth J. Walters

RUTH J. WALTERS, 84, of 520 E. Lincolnway, Morrison, IL, died Saturday, February 7, 2009 at Mercy Medical Center North, Clinton, IA, after an extended illness.

Ruth was born July 9, 1924 in Morrison, IL to Fred and Tina (Wiersema) Stuart. She was educated in the Humphrey School of rural Whiteside County. Ruth married Harold E. Walters on October 22, 1945 in Morrison. He died February 19, 1988. She farmed, along with her late husband, in the rural Morrison area. She was also employed by General Electric in Morrison for 27 years. Following retirement, she worked for the Morrison Hardees Restaurant. Ruth was a member of Ebenezer Reformed Church in Morrison and participated in the church’s Women’s Bible Study and Prayer Partners. She was also a member of the GEM Club. Ruth enjoyed collecting and displaying lawn ornaments and seasonal decorations.

Survivors include three daughters, Jane Heath of Morrison; Dawn (Robert) Bauer of Albany, IL; and Rhonda Walters of Lone Tree, IA; two sons, Paul (Sharon) Walters of Morrison; and Harland (Mattie Swank) Walters of Bowie, TX; fourteen grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Millie Schaver of Morrison; and two brothers, Ervin (Delores) Stuart of Morrison and Robert (Arlene) Stuart of Fulton, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold; one son, Phil; two grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy Balk; and four brothers, Arthur, Donald, Marion and James Stuart.

VISITATION: 4:30 – 7:00 PM Tuesday – February 10, 2009 at the Morrison Chapel – Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home
