Four science students from Morrison Junior High, 8th grade, are participating in a bridge building contest sponsored by Bradley University in Peoria, IL.

The students attended the first meeting in Peoria, Sat. Nov. 15th to pick up balsa wood for the contest and to get assistance designing their "Howe" style bridge on the computer

Engineering students from Bradley assisted them by revising their design and getting a large print out of their bridge for the building process. They are holding the printout of their design in the photograph.

The four students will work on the bridge and enter it in the contest, which is February 21st, 2009 in Peoria Northwoods Mall. Their goal is to design a strong and aesthetically pleasing bridge. Good luck to these young designers in the contest. These competitors are among the youngest and inexperienced of the 104 teams in the contest, but we wish them the best.

Also, the students and MJHS science teacher would like to give a big thank you to chaperone and chauffeur, Jeannie Kull, for driving the students to their first meeting in Peoria. Picture attached of (left to right) Ryan Rodriguez, Maddie Kull, Austin Lewis, and Mike Rennie.
