Morrison High School Food Drive

Recycling bins full of donations

The Morrison High School Key Club sponsored a food drive at the high school to get donations for the Morrison Food Pantry. Recycle bins were set in place during each first hour classroom starting on November 11th. Donations were taken every other day through November 19th.

Through donating items, each class was competing to receive a buffet in place of their lunch period. A specified amount of points were given for certain items. For example, diapers and laundry soup were two of the items worth ten points, things like deodorant and shaving cream were worth five, toilet paper was one point per roll, etc. Points were taken on an individual basis, but also went towards the total points for that individual’s class. Any student who donated 100 points worth of items automatically got the chance to go to the buffet, whether their class won or not. In all fairness, students from the winning classroom could go to the buffet only if they donated 15 points worth of items.

On November 19th, the food drive ended with proven success. Students and teachers alike donated heaps of food and items. The holidays for those in need of the given things will be a great deal brighter because of the efforts put forth by those who donated. A thanks goes out to the Morrison High School Key Club for their hard work in making the food drive at the high school a success. Another well-deserved thanks would be to the students and teachers who donated. Your efforts are appreciated.
