Fifth Graders to Present Veterans' Day Performance

In honor of Veteran’s Day, the fifth grade students at Southside School will present a program entitled, “Marching for Our Country.” The program will be given at the Morrison High School Auditorium on Tuesday, November 11 at 7:00 P.M.

As a special feature, this year’s program will feature 26 students marching in military formation. Students trained diligently to learn the art of military marching from Mr. James Prombo to pay homage to our military men and women who have led us in the march toward freedom. Students will also perform the traditional Star-Spangled Banner and Armed Forces Salute, along with other songs that celebrate our freedom and patriotism.

In preparation for the concert, each student was required to write an essay regarding the three branches of the military or a narrative regarding the military, as experienced by a veteran. The top two essays from each of the three fifth grade classes were selected by the fifth grade teachers. From these essays, one was selected to be read at the program.

The fifth grade music classes are taught by Mrs. Perrizo. She will accompany the students’ singing.

All are invited to attend. Admission is free. Veterans are especially invited to come to this program.
