Sale Shopping

by Angie VanderVinne

The best thing about my profession is that I get to learn a new perspective or tool all the time. In response to my article about grocery shopping and ways to save, several people provided wonderful ideas and tools for all of us to consider using.

Here’s a new twist on menu planning and grocery shopping that intrigues me. Stock up on grocery and supply items when they are on sale, creating your own mini warehouse of goods. You then plan your upcoming meals around what you have in your “warehouse”, and replenish your warehouse with more sale items to get ready for the next month’s menu plan. Many of you may already do this practice, and I say kudos to you. I am a sale shopper, but I primarily look to see if the item I WANT is on sale versus buying a sale item and working it into my plan.

Next week we will take a further look at shopping with coupons. Keep the suggestions coming: angiev2@mchsi.com.
