Morrison Seniors Go On Picnic

Morrison Senior Class enjoyed a picnic at Rockwood State Park for high test scores.

During two days last April, the junior class of Morrison High School took the PSAE (Prairie State Achievement Exam). All juniors across the state of Illinois take this test on the same two days, working on both the ACT test, as well as the Work Keys (a job skill assessment test). All students are required to meet certain standards as a group. The Morrison juniors, now seniors, not only met the requirement of 62%, but also exceeded the score by a whopping 13 percent. For their achievement, an assembly was held in their honor during the morning of September 3rd. Gift and gas cards were awarded to those students who exceeded in single or multiple areas of the PSAE test. They were received accompanied with the clapping of fellow students, of course. Following the assembly, the senior class went to Rockwood State Park for a picnic as an award for their excellent achievement.

The students enjoyed games such as beach volleyball, bocce ball, and other fun activities as well as cooking hamburgers and hotdogs on the grill. Near the end of the day, the weather changed slightly with a little rain, but that didn’t stop the day from continuing. Some students got a little wet, while others took shelter and played card games, (that is, until after a few games of ‘spoons’ got out of hand). The reward lasted the whole school day and was well deserved, not to mention that a good time was shared by all. A big ‘congratulations’ goes out to the seniors for their hard work. They truly earned a day of fun without the bother of schoolwork.
