Sponsorship Contributions for D.A.R.E. Program

“The past seven years have been fully funded by the community,” stated Officer Gabe Gomez. The funding is for the D.A.R.E program, which is offered to students in kindergarten, first, second and fifth grades.

Drug Abuse Resistance Education gives children the skills they need to avoid involvement in drugs, gangs, and violence. Upon completion of the program in fifth grade a graduation ceremony and pizza party are held for the students.

Morrison High School seniors act as role models for the D.A.R.E. students. They help with questions the fifth graders may have about peer pressure, the challenges of going from junior high to high school and what to expect.

The senior class roll models for 2008 were: Kenan Clark, Kayla VenHuizen, Ryan Nelson, Nathan Vandermyde, Jessica Scott and Kelsey Rickels.

Funding for the program this year through sponsorship contributions were Morrison Blacktop, Wells Fargo Bank, The Knights of Columbus, Climco and R.C. Smith Transportation.
