Morrison Junior High to Present Spring Honors Concert

The Morrison Junior High Music Department will present a Spring Honor’s Concert on Thursday, May 15 at 7 p.m. in the MHS Auditorium. The Concert Band will open the program with “Russian Sailor’s Dance” and “Two River Classics.” A feature selection will be a medley of tunes from the Disney film “Fantasia 2000.” The band will close their portion of the program with “The Best of Buddy Holly.”

The Sixth Grade Chorus will continue the program with “I Like to Sing,” “Windy Nights,” and “This Little Light of Mine.” The Seventh and Eighth Grade Mixed Chorus will close the program with “Better Head for Higher Ground,” “Colors of the Wind,” and “When You Believe.”

Eighth grade band and choir members will be recognized during each portion of the program. Eighth grade band members include Rebecca Stone, Kira Riggen, Tessa Bender, Madison Johnson, Hallah Dalati, Marissa Carlson, Alex Weets, Alec Klimson, Josh Screnock, Brittany Slater, Derek Nichols, Brandon Belt, Zach Champagne, Colin Goodman, Seth Buckwalter, Nathan Osborn, Mercedes Tenboer, Michael Vegter and Meghan Houzenga. Eighth grade choir members include Brittany Slater, Matalyn VanderBleek, Sherri Boles, Julia Richardson, Kira Riggen, Kaylah Greul, Erica Wolf, Sarah Mapes, Brittany Criss, Rebecca Stone, Kayla Tenboer, Courtney Thomas, Meghan Houzenga, Madison Tucker, Alex Weets, Seth Buckwalter and Nathan Osborn.

The MJHS Jazz Band will perform several selections in the cafeteria following the concert. The Morrison Music Boosters will be serving refreshments. The concert is open to the public and there is no admission charge. The bands are directed by Mr. David Bean and the choirs are directed by Mrs. Darlene Powers-Palmer.
