Morrison High School to Present Spring Concert

The Morrison High School Music Department will present a Spring Honor’s Concert on Tuesday, May 13 at 7:30 p.m. in the MHS Auditorium. The Concert Band will open the concert with “Valdres” a Norwegian march by Johannes Hanssen.

Featured on the concert will be two senior band members. Taylor Boyles will play tuba and sing a solo entitled “When Yuba Plays the Rumba on the Tuba.” Alyssa Barnett will be the featured soloist on “A Trumpeter’s Lullaby” by Leroy Anderson.

The Concert Choir will continue the program with “Ev’ry Time We Say Goodbye” by Cole Porter and “Puttin’ On the Ritz” by Irving Berlin among others. The Robed Choir will perform “I Got Rhythm” by George Gershwin, “Portrait in Blue” and “What Shall We Do with a Drunken Sailor?”

Senior band and choir members will be honored during each portion of the program. Senior band members include Ashley Hook, Trisha Beswick, Jordan Mann, Alyssa Barnett, Chris Nye, Michael Benson and Taylor Boyles. Senior choir members include Kristin Martin, Hannah Oostenryk, Bethany Gravert, Maggie Slavin, Taylor Boyles and Stefan Benda.

The MHS Jazz Band will perform several numbers in the cafeteria following the concert while the Morrison Music Boosters serve refreshments. The concert is open to the public and there is no admission charge.
