Morrison’s Fifth Grade Chorus, under the direction of Cynthia Perrizo entertained the students at Northside Grade School on Monday afternoon in the school’s gymnasium.

Perrizo informed the students that the first song they were going to sing was the Star Spangled Banner. Members of the chorus had been asked to sing this at a Lumber Kings game in Clinton, Iowa last year and because of the well behavior they were asked to sing again this year.

The second number they sang was “Fifty Nifty United States” which was a quick beat song which involved singing the names of all 50 states.

To celebrate St. Patrick’s Day their next song was “Harrigan.” H-A-double R-I-G-A-N spells Harrigan, That’s me.

The next song was an Irish marching song entitled, “McNamara's Band.”

“When the Irish came to America they helped build the railroad and sang songs as they worked,” Perrizo told the children. That is what inspired the next song entitled, “Works on the Railroad.” Tyler Todd played the recorder and Emily Kuehl performed an Irish dance during this song.

The final song was “Yonder Come Day.”

Happy St. Patrick’s Day to all!!!
