Morrison Early Learning Program - Preschool Screenings

The Morrison Early Learning Program will sponsor two pre-school screenings for those two, three, and four-year olds who will be eligible to attend pre-school during the 2008-09 School year.

Community screenings will be held on Wednesday, February 27th and Wednesday, March 19 from 2-5 p.m. at Northside Elementary School in Morrison.

As a part of the screening process, the screening team will be using the DIAL-3 Assessment. The DIAL-3 provides a positive, non-threatening environment essential to effective early screening. Children complete fun, age appropriate tasks using bright, appealing, child-friendly materials. The DIAL-3 assesses motor skills, concept formation, and language development. In addition to these areas, they will also complete a hearing and vision screening. All families will be asked to complete a family screening profile and some additional screening material.

Early learning screenings for children ages 0-33 months will also be conducted at this time.

Children who attend Morrison Pre-School or Morrison Day Care will be screened at these locations at a different time. An additional screening appointment is not necessary.

Screenings are free of charge, but parents are asked to call and schedule an appointment for their child prior to the screening dates by telephoning Northside School at (815) 772-2153. Please specify you child’s age when calling to make your appointment.

For further information on pre-school screenings, please contact Anji Garza, Morrison Elementary Programs and Service Coordinator at (815) 772-2153.
