Houldson Resigns - Board Seeking Candidate

Greg Houldson resigned from the Morrison Board of Education on Tuesday, January 8, 2008. At this time, Morrison Community Unit District #6 is seeking candidates from the Mt. Pleasant townships.

Greg Houldson will be missed as a Board of Education member. He was very much an advocate for all students in our district. He served on the Wellness Committee and Citizen’s Advisory Council. Greg took the best interest of staff, students and the community when he addressed educational issues. The acceptance of Greg’s resignation by his fellow board members was with great regrets. Morrison Board of Education is looking for an individual who is familiar with the Morrison community and school district. The district is seeking a candidate who sees the connection between the schools and community, is available to serve on committees and attend evening meetings, has the ability to work cooperatively with other people, and is open-minded and interested in the district as a whole. This individual needs to be a registered voter from a Mt. Pleasant township.

Individuals from the Mt. Pleasant townships who would like additional information regarding the role of a school member should send a letter of interest to Dr. Jody L. Ware at 643 Genesee or via e-mail at: jody.ware@morrisonschools.org by February 5, 2008. Present Board members, Sally Gray, Ted Tilton, Jim Ridley, Jim Prombo, Steve Swanstrom and Kevin Schlueter welcome calls from interested individuals who may have questions about the position. Dr. Ware will meet individually with these candidates sharing information about the district. On February 12, 2008, beginning at 4:30 p.m., individuals will be interviewed by the Morrison Board of Education in an executive session meeting. A prospective board member will be chosen and sworn in at the board meeting on February 12th at 6:30 p.m. The appointed board member will fill this position until Spring, 2009 elections when at that time he/she would need to file to be elected.
