Emmanuel Reformed Church to Present "UnSpeakable Joy!" |
|
Emmanuel’s “Voices of Praise” cordially invites the area to experience their first annual Christmas cantata, “Unspeakable Joy!” which will be presented in three performances, Thursday, Friday and Sunday evenings, December 13, 14 & 16, at 7:00 p.m. in the sanctuary of the Emmanuel Reformed Church, 202 E Morris, Morrison. Doors will open at 6:15 each evening. Under the direction of ministry coordinator Rich Criss, “Voices of Praise” is a new 70-voice outreach choir comprised of those from the Sanctuary Choir of the Emmanuel Reformed Church as well as members of other churches in the area. Churches represented are Spring Valley Reformed, Fulton; Bethel Reformed, Sterling; Bethel Christian Reformed, Fulton; First Christian Reformed, Fulton; First Baptist Church, Clinton, IA; Ebenezer Reformed, Morrison and Christian Reformed Church, Morrison. All members have come together unified under one Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ to share the story of Christmas through music. “Unspeakable Joy!” is a thrilling musical that begins with the energetic “Unspeakable Joy Overture” and has plenty of foot-tapping, good-times like “Come and See What’s Happenin’,” and “Glory to God in the Highest,” an old Cathedrals quartet classic. Tenderness is provided in the manger moments with songs like “When Heaven Kissed Earth,” “Jesus, Child of Heaven (Mary’s Lullaby,” and “Come Make a Place in Me.” More highly dramatic moments erupt during songs like “Be It Unto Me” and “Hallelujah Chorus.” The choir will be joined by soloists, Bob VanZuiden, Bambi Carlson, Heather McIlrath, Sandy Shetler & Randy Venema. A trio of Jeff McDearmon and Jason and Hilary McDearmon will share and two southern gospel-style quartets are comprised of Ed Pruis, Ritch Lindstrom, Rollie Ebbers, Denny Boeck, Rich Criss, Tom Slater, Daniel Deter and Bob VanZuiden. Pastor Jeff McIlrath will narrate. No tickets are needed for this 75-minute concert and a free-will offering will be received. All ages will enjoy these nights of Christmas music and the church is handicapped accessible. A staffed nursery will be provided for the very young.
