Tony's Concert for Missions in Motion |
|
The United Methodist Church of Morrison presents pianist Antonio Iturrioz on Sunday, September 23, 2007, at 4:00 P.M. “Tony’s Concert for Missions in Motion” will benefit planned activities and trips of the Missions in Motion program. All are welcome to attend this exuberant performance by a world-class concertmaster. Following the concert, all are invited to attend the Salad and Dessert Supper in Fellowship Hall. A free will offering will be taken at both the concert and light meal. Born in Cuba, “Tony’s first piano teacher was his father. After immigrating to the United States in 1962, Tony made his orchestral debut at age fifteen. Tony has studied with well-known teachers, including Master Classes with the famous concert pianist, Andre Watts. An injury to his right hand interrupted his career for several years during which he developed a formidable repertoire of keyboard music for the left hand. A recently released educational documentary film on DVD, “The Art of the Left Hand: A Brief History of Left Hand Piano Music,” is a unique exploration of left hand piano music with performances of the important works. Fellow keyboardists and music scholars have enthusiastically received the film. “Tony’s Concert” will feature music ranging from Bach to the modern piece, “The Banjo” by Gottschalk. Mr. Iturrioz has also included the music of Schubert, Chopin, and Franz Liszt. Waltzes by Strauss and “Home Sweet Home” will conclude the program. An additional musical pleasure of the afternoon concert will be vocalist Luke Vanderbleek of Morrison and cellist, Mary Winn of Clinton. Both musicians are much sought after in the local area. Mr. Iturrioz is married to the former Morrison resident, Mary Jacobsen. They make their home in Guerneville, California. by Editor, theCity1.com |
