NIDHMA Contest Held at Gail and Ruth Roger's |

The Northern Illinois Draft Horse and Mule Association held their plowing and pulling contest at the farm of Gail and Ruth Rogers. The plowing was held as planned despite the two inches of rain on Saturday, September 24th and the pulling contest was held on the 25th even though the rain did leave some unwanted mud/ There were 35 draft horses, three foals and 10 mules in competition. During the day on Saturday, Jacob and Jared Krug of Elizabeth rode a 30-year-old mule. Erin Carney of Morrison rode her horse Tag A Long. Some of the competitions were: Men’s, Ladies and Youth Walking Plow; Men’s Ladies and Youth Sulky Plow; Two-Bottom Gang Plow; Ladies Two-Bottom Gang Plow; and Three-Bottom Gang Plow. The draft horse-mule pull on Sunday was Youth, Lightweight and Heavyweight Pull. Also on Sunday morning an unscheduled wagon obstacle course and a log skidding contest were held.
