Cook-Off Winners Advance to State Competition

Great News for Area Youth!

The top three winners of the Kids-Only Cook-off, sponsored by University of Illinois Extension on September 22nd, have been selected as finalists to compete in the Illinois Jr. Chef Contest at KIDFEST-Chicago on October 15th!

The team will prepare Zachary Champagne's winning recipe, "Raspberry Fruit Salad." They will compete live on-stage against other finalists, grades six through nine, from across the State of Illinois.

Join in wishing the kids the best of luck! They are Zachary Champagne (Age 12 - Morrison), Rachel Nelsen (Age 11 – Sterling), and Michael Oldenburg (Age 12 – Rock Falls). They will be joined by a chef and nutritional advisor from the Whiteside County Office of University of Illinois Extension.

KIDSFEST-Chicago will be held at the DuPage Expo in St. Charles and is open to the public free of charge. For more information, visit Illinois Nutrition Education or visit University of Illinois.
