HRRV Creates New Support Group

Beginning Tuesday, October 4 Hospice of the Rock River Valley (HRRV) invites individuals coping with the loss of a loved one to attend an Afternoon Grief Support Group to be held in the Harvest Hammer room at the Morrison Community Hospital. The group will meet on Tuesdays from 2:00 – 3:30 p.m. for six weeks "Attending a support group gives individuals a chance to share and be heard by others who are experiencing grief," said Christine Larson, HRRV bereavement coordinator. Larson said the prime objectives for support groups are listening and sharing. Grief support groups are free and open to family members of patients cared for by HRRV and community members. HRRV also offers a variety of bereavement services to families and community members. These services include home visits or phone contacts. All services are free and open to the public. "No two individuals travel the grief journey identically," Larson said of the grieving process. "Talking, writing and crying about a loss is okay." Registration for the Afternoon Grief Support Group can be made by calling Chris Larson at (800) 646-9242. Registration deadline is Friday, September 30.
