It’s a Grand Night for Singing

The return of spring brings warm breezes, nodding flowers, the songs of birds, and music. On Sunday, April 17, 2005, “It’s a Grand Night for Singing” will celebrate God’s gift of spring and sound. Presented by the musicians of the United Methodist Church of Morrison, the concert will be held in the church’s sanctuary beginning at 4:00 P.M.

The Chancel Choir, soloists, and hand bell choir will perform a wide variety of both secular and sacred music. During this second annual spring concert, the Choir, under the direction of John Frame, will perform “It’s a Grand Night for Singing” from Rodgers and Hammerstein’s musical, State Fair; the traditional spiritual, “Witness;” “Holy Ground,” a contemporary praise anthem; “Fiddler’s Jamboree,” a combination of mountain folk songs; and the traditional American tune, “When the Saints Go Marching In.” The Women’s Choir will sing “An American Folk Trilogy,” a patriotic medley, and the Men’s Choir will perform the Gaither’s “I Do Believe” from the Gaither CD.

Also, utilizing their special talents will be favorite soloists: Tonia Ernst, Connie Swanson-DeSpain, John Miller, Ed Pruis, and Dan Swinson. In addition, the church’s handbell choir, of twelve ringers, will present “Lamb of God” with Ed Pruis as soloist. Nancy Poling and John Frame will complete the concert with an organ/piano duet.

A free will offering will be taken with the proceeds to be used for apportionment in mission. You are most cordially invited for an uplifting salute to sound, song, and spring.
