News From Morrison's Heritage Museum

Morrison's Heritage Museum is fulfilling one of its major New Year's resolutions. Important storage changes are taking place during the off-season. Board members are redefining spaces from the choir loft to the obsolete coal bin in the basement.

New shelving is being installed in the balcony, with paneling on the side that faces the museum interior. One of our goals was to capitalize on our upper spaces for the display of items. Similar shelves will be installed in the basement storage room, and existing shelves will be repositioned. Be sure to check out our DIY projects when we reopen in April.

We have begun a second resolution that will likely take more than a year to achieve. Board members are itemizing, cross-referencing, photographing, and assigning storage locations to our entire collection.

The museum continues to be the recipient of artifacts donated by generous citizens. If you have something indicative of Morrison's history that you would care to donate or display for a time, kindly contact Jackie Tilton at (815) 772-2731. She will discuss the item with you to determine if the Board can accept it.

As with all active, not-for-profit organizations, the Historical Society has projects in mind that await funding. We welcome financial support in any amount from individuals and businesses. Contact treasurer Mary Beth Dombroski for details at (815) 336-2046. We would be pleased to add your name to our "Book of Donors."
