Dr. Vandermyde Group Photo

The Morrison Sesquicentennial Celebration of 2005 officially started on Saturday July 17, 2004 with an absolutely awesome turnout of patients of Dr's Ike and Dick Vandermyde at Morrison Community Hospital for the group photograph.

Approximately 300 people attended and were the first to sign the official "Living History Guestbook" and received an official Certificate of Attendance. This unique event and memory photo, which will be available soon, have now become an historical moment in Morrison and an appropriate way to start our journey to the final celebration on July 8, 9 and 10, 2005.

We sincerely thank Administrator Terry Amstutz and staff of Morrison Community Hospital for a job well done preparing the hospital grounds, A&D Electric for the boom truck, St. Peter's Church and Climco for allowing parking space. We were gratified to receive the many written personal remembrances of their patients and we encourage more stories to be mailed to our official address. We will publish in an appropriate manner during the "Health and Elder Care" month of 2005.

Dr. Dick along with his father made a difference in our community and unselfishly they both doctored a community and somehow found time to marry and have families of their own. At the end of our photo event, we overheard one of Dr. Dick's 10 year old granddaughters insisting in a quiet and measured tone of voice, "Grandpa, you promised to give me a tour of the hospital...can you show me now?" Can there be another Dr. Vandermyde somewhere in our future? That would be just like him wouldn't it... he just keeps on giving.
