Morrison Hospital EMS Open House

Bryan Nugent, Morrison EMS explains the equipment from the ambulance to Zachary Wirth and Ashley Dunn.

Morrison Community Hospital EMS held an Open House on Sunday, June 6, 2004, with the focus being on Child Safety.

Carroll County Children’s Fire Safety House was accessible for children to enter. As the house filled with smoke children learned what should be done if a fire broke out in their house. They learned how to call for help, how to check the door for heat and how to escape safely.

The Morrison Ambulance was open for the children to sit in and explore. A station was set up displaying some of the equipment from the ambulance to familiarize the children with the equipment used, in hopes of easing some of their fears if they had to ride in an ambulance or saw someone being placed into an ambulance.

Morrison Police department with the help of the Fulton department conducted bicycle safety checks and stressed the use of helmets.

Officers from the Illinois State Police performed child safety seat inspections.

Hot Dogs and chips were served and Cookie the Clown entertained everyone.

During the Open House, Morrison Ambulance received a call of a possible heart attack, so those present were able to see the EMS crew in action.
